Cox&Cox Autumn Collection

It feels as though Autumn is just around the corner and with it we see a lot of beautiful new collections in interiors. Cox & Cox are among my favorite online shops and their catalogue does not disappoint:
earthy tones, natural materials, hints of industrial elements and whimsical detailing.

Check out their full online catalogue here.

Tree stump side tables

I don't tend to follow interior trends too much but every now and then ideas pop up that I am itching to adopt in my own home - even better when they are easy diy projects.

I'm seeing tree stumps used as tables all over the web. Some polished or painted, others raw and with bark still on. I've collected some images that give inspiration to this growing trend. If you feel like making one yourself here and here are great instructions.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend and thank you so very much for visiting me this week.

Kitchen crush

Happy Monday! Today I want to share with you a lovely swedish Kitchen via Stadshem that caught my eye.  I am always drawn to white kitchens but really like it when another color is added to liven things up a bit. In this case lavender is used which I think works beautifully.

LOVE the little coffee station with its open shelves tucked away in the corner

LOVE the wooden elements
LOVE the block of colour above the stove

LOVE the wooden floors
LOVE the light
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Arne Jacobsen Series 7 Chairs

Hints of Summer

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope this week has treated you well. I had a dear friend visit with her two little girls this week and we thoroughly enjoyed the return of summer.

I really dislike housework so to make it a little more enjoyable I often end up re-arranging and re-decorating a little as part of my cleaning routine. Today I gave the lounge a fresh look by adding some blue cushions, fresh flowers and shells.

I am looking forward to a school friend re-union on Friday night and a summer festival at my oldest boy's kindergarten on Saturday. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Boys room and some news

Thank you for visiting me today and apologies for my absence this week so far. Thinks are a little hectic here at the moment. We have finally booked our flights back home to New Zealand -  there is no going back now. We'll be leaving here at the end of this year and though that seems like a while it actually creeps up on you and it makes my head spin thinking of all the things I need to get done for the big move.

We have become quite expertly in relocating over the years but this time we have two boys in tow and a lot more belongings than ever before. I am both excited and sad to leave - our two and a half years here in Germany have been absolutely wonderful. Needles to say I will feel sad to say goodbye to family and friends here. It is of course a huge comfort knowing that we also have family and friends waiting for us on the other side...

Today I want to share with you our boy's room which has had a little makeover. Our little guy - not being so little anymore, has moved from his cot into a big boy bed and so we purchased two matching Kritter beds from IKEA. I think they are cute - rather fitting for two little Lambs. I still need to find some nice bedding - so far I've had no luck. I was thinking of maybe some light blue and white fine checked duvet covers - or maybe a bedspread. Do you have any tips?

My baby turns 2

Yesterday my youngest boy turned two. It's excited and a little sad at the same time seeing him grow up so fast. It felt like yesterday that I brought him into this world. He's a very busy little boy, full of energy and just a delight to be around.

I had invited some of his little friends for a "splish splash" paddle pool party. The weather was glorious and the mums were grateful to dip their toes in the water as well. In the evening we had a BBQ with my family - a perfect day!

I didn't want to go overboard with decorations and kept it pretty simple. The blue, red and white party bunting and cupcake toppers are free print templates from here.

The lemon cake was a store bought cake mix and it was fool proof - even for me ;-)

You can find the recipe for the carrot cupcakes with cream cheese icing here

The party favour bags (in the background) had some sweets, a small book and a water toy in them.
I used paper bags, string and a label in the same style as the invitations.

I hope you have a great week and thank you so very much for stopping by today.

Summer Bag - Sewing Tutorial

As promised, I am bringing you a sewing tutorial for a simple summer bag. I was inspired by this Jil Sander bag and thought it should be pretty easy to make one using some blue and white IKEA fabric I had left over. I hope the tutorial is easy enough to follow. You don't need to follow the measurements exactly - if your stripes are a little wider or narrower than mine, just go by what looks good.
